Follow-Up Email Templates for After a Sales Call

The first follow-up sets the tone for the whole deal. These templates help you recap what was discussed, restate the next step, and keep momentum — sent within 24 hours while the conversation is still fresh.

How to follow up after a sales call

Send the first follow-up within 24 hours — same day is better. The email should do three things: thank them briefly, recap the one or two points that mattered, and restate the agreed next step with a date attached.

Keep it under 150 words. A recap email that reads like meeting minutes gets skimmed; one that reads like a personal note gets answered. Reference something specific the prospect said — it signals you were listening, and it separates your email from every other vendor's.

If no next step was agreed on the call, propose one. "Let me know your thoughts" is where deals go to die; "Does Thursday work for a 20-minute walkthrough with your VP?" keeps things moving.

Every template here still needs the specifics: what they said, what hurts, what was promised. FollowClose reads your call transcript and writes the follow-up around the actual conversation — no blanks to fill.
